Well…this little cold snap is something new for us! If you haven’t been around the Killeen Texas area long – you may not be aware that these temps in the teens and 20’s are very bizarre for us! Usually in December we are still wearing short sleeves – even shorts on some days! Not this year though – this year we are having a real honest-to-goodness WINTER!
I for one, love it. I grew up in Missouri so having a “changing of the seasons” makes me feel all nostalgic. We had them all in the Ozarks – Spring – Summer – Fall and Winter – all lasting the appropriate 3 months or so. Since moving to Killeen Texas in the 80’s – its been 2 seasons – HOT and WARM. Never cold – never snow – barely any ice.
So, as a Realtor I love the warm time of year because getting out with clients is easier and more comfortable, but as a person – I love the cold.
Some of my favorite things when its cold;
- Warm fuzzy blankets
- Roaring fires in the fireplace
- Hot chocolate
- A big pot of chili (with beans!)
- Extra covers on the bed
- Cozy jammies
- Snuggling with my loves
- Winter fashion
- Boots
- Mittens
- Crisp cold air
- Scarves (tied 100 different ways)
I really love helping people find their new homes during this time of year too. Its enough time to get settled in and unpacked so that when Spring rolls around – they feel “at home” in their new place. No matter what time of year it is around the Fort Hood area – there are always homes for sale here. New construction, resales, custom homes – they are all available.
